7 Things You Should NOT Store In Your Bathroom

You may never have thought about it, but all the steam and moisture that arises in the shower when you bathe can actually affect many of your things in an unfortunate way.

At the same time, the fluctuating temperature in the bathroom is not exactly good for them either. It gets hot when you bathe, and then the temperature in the room subsequently falls – especially if you, like many, open the window to ventilate.

See how many of your things in the bathroom you have to move somewhere else after reading this!

7 Things Not To Store In Your Bathroom

  • Makeup – A clear rule of thumb is that makeup must be stored at room temperature. Therefore, the bathroom shelf or cabinet is certainly not the right place because of the fluctuating temperature in the room. Maybe you need to find a spot for it in the bedroom.
  • Medicine – Although the so-called medicine cabinet often hangs in the bathroom, it is actually a terrible idea to keep the medicine in it! Medicine should preferably be kept far away from humid environments and stored at room temperature (unless otherwise stated). The medicine may lose its effect if it is not stored in a dry area.
  • Electronics – Happy to hear music when you bathe? Then check out whether the electronic equipment can withstand standing in the steaming bathroom. Electronics that are not made for it will eventually damage and break, so, maybe do not store it in the bathroom.
  • Razor Blades – It’s a shame if your razor blades are broken before you use them. Store your extra razor blades in a different place to avoid getting moist and hence becoming dull and perhaps even rusty. Another possibility is to store them in a bag that can be closed tightly so that it keeps the moisture out. It is also a good idea to wipe your current razor blade off after use so they will last longer.
  • Jewelry – It is not smart to have the jewelry hanging from your hand in the bathroom. The moisture easily makes the jewelry oxidize and can give them nasty spots. Instead, move them to the bedroom or another room without a wet environment.
  • Towels – Yes, I know it all too well – the bathroom is just a smart place to keep your towels, so they are always at hand when you need them. Unfortunately, the bathroom is also the place in the home, where there is the highest risk that the towels collect moisture and become the breeding ground for mold and fungus. Let the fan run for quite some time after you have been in the shower to remove the moisture. Then the wet towels dry faster.
  • Nail Polish – Nail polish lasts a long time, especially if you keep it right. And it’s not in the bathroom, as they are damaged by the changing temperature in the room. Instead, they should be stored at room temperature. Therefore, it is also a bad idea to put them in the refrigerator.
